WHAT IS ECHOVISION?

-A blind spot obstacle detection system.
HOW DOES ECHOVISION WORK?

-It sends out ultrasonic pulses and listens for their return.
DO I HAVE TO TURN THE SYSTEM ON?

-No, it is turned on automatically when you put the vehicle in reverse.
WHY DOES THE SYSTEM BEEP EVERY TIME I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE?

-The system gives a short series of high and low tone bursts every time it is turned
on as a test of the audible warning components.
WHAT DOES THE "FAULT" AND "READY" ON THE DISPLAY MEAN?

-"Fault" means the system has a malfunction.
-"Ready" means the system is operating.
WHAT WILL THE SYSTEM PICK UP?

-Obstacles within approximately 10 feet of the rear of the vehicle.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AN OBSTACLE IS DETECTED?

-If the obstacle is within 10 feet but further, than 4 feet from the rear of
the vehicle an interrupted-tone alarm is sounded. The pulse rate of the this
warning increases as the distance between the sensors and the detected
obstacle decreases. When the obstacle is within 3 feet an alternating
high/low tone is sounded.
WHAT WON'T THE SYSTEM PICK UP?

-Anything outside of the 10 foot range.
-An object that cannot reflect sound waves back to the receiver, e.g. a smooth flat
surface that deflects the ultrasonic waves to the side.
CAN WE GET FALSE ALARMS?

-Yes, if you are backing down an incline such that the sensors are angled towards
the ground you can get an alarm from the ground return.
-Also, ground level irregularities such as potholes and curbs can reflect the
ultrasonic pulses and cause an alarm.

WHAT ABOUT SNOW AND RAIN?

-Heavy precipitation can cause an alarm.
